Cavy Angel's Guinea Pig Rescue Inc is a not for profit, fully registered charity that was founded in December 2009 by mother and daughter team Meg and Monique Davenport. The rescue is located in Elanora, a suburb on the Gold Coast Australia.
The rescue developed from Monique's love of guinea pigs, which she had developed from a young, at just five years old Monique had already developed a strong connection and love for the small but very unique and often misunderstood animals and by the age of 14, she had been caring for 25 guinea pigs that she had taken in from friends and family who could not care for them, this made mother and daughter team realising that there was a need for a place that puts the welfare of guinea pigs first, so that's when Monique decided to establish the rescue with her mom’s assistance.
Cavy Angel’s Guinea Pig Rescue is a no-kill shelter and does not euthanise any guinea pigs unless it is more humane to do so, particularly in cases where the creature is in severe pain or if it is impossible to return him to a healthy state. The organisation is determined in promoting the adoption of homeless guinea pigs and condemning irresponsible mass breeding, selling, or keeping of guinea pigs.
Cavy Angel’s Guinea Pig Rescue receives thousands of surrendered guinea pigs each year,
